US: in Syria and in Iraq

It is official now, the US supports and arms the Iraqi regime in its war on ISSI while the US supports and arms the foes of the Syrian regime in its war on ISSI.  I don't blame if students of Middle Eastern studies look at those developments and exclaim: what the hell is going on there?
